A keyboard alternative that works by means of the performer passing the hand or fingers through beams of light to trigger notes and generate control signals. (Some actually use lasers; some use focused beams of ordinary light, which is less visually spectacular, but safer.) One notable performer who has used the laser harp extensively is Jean-Michel Jarre.
