(Often abbreviated "mult") In a modular synthesizer, a module which consists simply of a set of jacks connected together. It allows a signal to be split several ways and sent to multiple destinations without the need for Y-cables. There is also the "buffered mult" which typically contains one input jack and several outputs, and has a unity-gain amplifier for each output. The advantage of this type is that it isolates the outputs from each other (reducing crosstalk) and reduces loading on the input signal; the main disadantage is that it requires power to operate.
