Music played from a sequencer where the notes have been subject to quantization such that all the notes are exactly on the beats. The effect is enhanced if all of the notes have precise velocity and duration values. Because a sequencer can time notes more precisely then even the most skilled human player, tick-tock sequencing produces a unique effect. Many electronic dance artists have a love-hate relationship with it, because it has become something of a cliche, but at the same time it is still fundemental to certain types of electronica.
