Also known as an arbitrary event generator, a universal event generator or UEG is a more general form of envelope generator. A UEG generates a signal that appears on a scope as a series of line segments, with full control of the time and slope of each segment; the UEG may support eight or more segments. Most UEGs provide means for segments to be repeated, skipped, or cut short based on a gate or trigger signal input.
